I was going to leave this blog in the dust, but as I reviewed it recently, I decided to keep it as an electronic footprint. I especially like the pictures of my kids when they were very young. My family is an integral part of who I have become. I am proud of my family. So please feel free to peruse for yourself to see what I've been up to in the past.
To bring you up to date, today I'm am finishing a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling through Drake University, Des Moines, IA. I love it! It's going well and I will be done with it by the end of December this year. So, I have that going for me, which is nice. Also, I've been deciding to add to my workload by working as a Personal Life Coach online. This involves setting up a website and promoting myself to gather clients. It also means putting myself out there by speaking to groups and writing articles to be a greater online presence. The challenge is great, but I look forward to the results.
Why coaching? Because it feels like another way I can share my gifts. I feel that my life experience has led me to this place where I am professionally and personally and I want to help others get to where they want to be. Recently, I've been impressed by the idea of a Third Metric proposed by Arianna Huffington (see Article on Third Metric) and I've really been taking the idea to heart. It represents a new way to measure personal success that goes beyond collecting money and power. It really resonates with me and I think it's how I've been living much of my life without giving it that name. So I'll be investigating that idea some more. Thanks for reading! Matthew
